hi there i have a 2003 with about 46xxx miles on her, the drivers door makes a (not too loud) kock or rub type of sound when open the door halfway. Right where it holds itself about halfway open it makes this sound more on the drivers side than the passenger side. ive tryed to lube it with wd-40, and grease, didnt work, im wondering if this is basicly normal.. o heres a video of it, you need to turn it up loud to hear it.

mine makes a similar noise , not sure at what point it happens but on mine it appears to be coming from the detent mechanism ( the part that sits in the middle of the door and mounts between the upper and lower door hinges. I tried lubricating mine, and tightening the mounting nut but it still makes a noise. I think there is just a bit of play in the mechanism as the door opens.

I never checked to see if there was any way to tighten it from the inside of the door, it must attach on the interior of the door somehow. I just don't want to mess around with my door panels anymore having them off recently during a speaker swap. I wish I had checked at that that time.

 

Yup, MY02's driver's door makes this sound it as well. I tried some lithium grease on the middle part between the upper and lower hinges and it quieted the sound for a little while. Eventually it came back.
