F.Y.I. I am soliciting help from our U.K. colleagues in tracking down a particular type of mirror which can used to replace the existing door mirror on the S2K, and will completely eliminate those annoying blind spots.

Rather than try to describe it in detail here, you can read all about it in my post in the International forum:
http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=4789

Before anyone gets excited about this, my guess is that the possibilty of having the manufacturer produce such mirrors specifically for the S2K are probably relatively slim. However, if my guestimate is right, the sales for this item (2 per set) for the U.S. alone would probably exceed the manufacturer's total sales of this item (all cars) for the entire year.

I'd really like to get an estimate of who would be interested, but I'm not willing to do this until I first get a positive reponse or contact information from our U.K. friends. If this turns out to be a a project worth pursuing, we may be able to turn this over to one of our sponsors who would be in a better position to run with it.

Although this post is intended for info only, perhaps you can post any comments on whether you think this thing could, or would be worth pursuing.

I'd definitely buy a set.

I think Spoon already makes this.

I saw it on their web page once, it seemed to be parabolic mirror that affixed over and replaced the existing side-view mirror.

But I can't be totally positive as all the text was in Japanese.

Good info Mikey. If MG or RM Racing read this post, perhaps they could look into this for us.

I realize that without seeing one of these mirrors, it may be difficult to visualize how effective they are. A photo of one would be highly beneficial. They are specifically designed to replace broken mirrors, but at the same time, they provide the added benefit of a wider field of view. Conversely, they can be also be applied directly to the surface of existing mirrors, as they are cut to the exact size and shape for the appropriate vehicle.

Just found the thread. Check out the photos and part numbers Pepe posted here:

Giampiero could almost certainly get these for us. At 9,000 yen the current US price is $77.11

In Europe they have convex mirrors on both sides. That takes care of the blind spot problem very well. I'm sure someone could find a way to get a European left side mirror.

I'll be in several places in Europe this month, I'll see how much they cost.

Giampiero,

IMO, for the extra measure of safety, the price is well worth it.
