Default Do's and Dont's and what to look out for?

I do not currently own an s2k.
I do plan on buying one hopefully this summer.
I have owned alot of cars (fast and slow) (FWD and RWD).
I'm a mechanic so I'm not a noob to modding.
I currently drive an '07 Civic.

So, when the time comes, during my s2k shopping,
based on your experience, what are some of the things I
should look out for and what are the do's and dont's...???
I just don't want to miss something that an s2k owner
wouldn't have missed...

thx

1. Drive it, take it on the freeway, redline it, take it to about 80mph and cruise for alittle to see how it drives.
2. Check on the engine, engine bay, doors, dash, ect and make sure the vins match.
3. Watch the engine temp and see if it gets hot.
4. Make sure the lines match up on the doors, trunk, hood and there are no huge gaps.

Just keep your eyes open and try to find someone who babied the car because the last thing you want is someone elses problem.

What exactly do you mean by..."no dbw throttle allowed..."

Do you just not like the technology or have something against it? Have you driven an S2000 with DBW and compared it to an S2000 w/o a DBW?

BTW...if you are comparing it to another car that has DBW in it...You can't really compare that because each DBW is tuned differently for each type of vehicle. Another words, the S2000's DBW setup is pretty precise. Good luck with your choice!!!

^^^I agree the S2k drive by wire is the best I have ever driven, I love mine. Infact I would say it has better feel than my K20a2 did, which was not dbw. But maybe he wants the option of adding Kpro, I did not care to much about this because my modding days are over. If I would have intended on modding my S I would have been more concerned.

Before I bought mine, I've spent almost everyday for 4 months cruising many of the sub forums on this site. By the 2nd to 3rd month I had already decided between AP1/AP2, color, and what to look for and sort of expect.
Just take your time (somewhat before summer comes), saving the cash in the meantime and enjoy choosing the many options out there.

I think the three f-ups that show up the most here are
- mis-shifts
- not checking the oil
- not understanding the dynamics of a balanced RWD car and sending it into a curb, ditch, pole, over a cliff . . . .

Keep that and the above thread in mind and you are off to a good start. good luck.

I dont want anyone to think I'm putting down how the DBW is tuned for the s2k. I haven't driven an s2k ever so I cant speak from experience.
Me personally, I'm just not a fan of the DBW itself.
To each his own I say. And "bgoetz" is right on the money.
I would definetly plan on a K-pro among many other mods.
