well thanks, for the replies, i think ill just use the synchros, just wondering due to my experniece with my frieands old school pickup which required the full doubel clutch. Mike

 

For sure! Proper rev matching causes little or no wear on the clutch. (Unless you're talking a high speed downshift into 1st, then that involves other techniques (including double clutching). See my response to "Former" (above).

There's absolutely no need to double clutch upshifting. In non-syncro cars you double clutch on the down shift.

For smooth down shift's in our car. Clutch in, downshift, heel toe (blip the gas), clutch out. You want to rev match otherwise you get serious engine breaking which can severely unsettle the car when entering turns.

I heel toe all the time (although it's not really necessary unless you want to force the downshift). Mainly just pratice, so that I don't have problems at the track. It can get hairy heel toeing on the track entering a turn behind someone. It's easy to mess up and f... up braking.

Not sure how you drive, but I seldomly have a rough upshift, and I never double clutch.

I didn't say it's rough, just it'll be smoother. Especially on down shift.

the web page says to blip when the when you are passing through neutral, is this the right method? or do you blip once it is in gear?
