is it downgrading?
well, i just recently sold my 91 NSX. it was a dream car for me but for some reason it didn't satisfy me all the way. there was something missing. may be i just needed a different color or something. anywho. im thinking about getting a s2000. from 00-03 depending on the price. would you guys consider it a big down grade? never driven an s2000 before. never had a top down neither. not a big fan but with the s2000 i might get use to it. well any help or suggestion is appreciated. all i got now is my 00 civic and 87 honda magna. thanks guys.
I did not want a convertible so I got the hard top when I bought the S2000. The hard top is great but the top down is even better. As for the S2000 I think its unmatched by any other car out there in terms of pure fun. The 9K redline will put a smile on your face like no other. So go drive one and you will see what we are all so happy about.
The S2k is not as fast in a straight line as the NSX, but it DEFINITELY handles much better. My friend has a '91 NSX and there were some twisty roads that he just couldn't keep up with me no matter how hard he pushed. We were both pretty equal drivers, having both gotten FTD various times at the local AutoCrosses in our CRXs and we would always go back and forth within tenths of seconds on AutoCross courses.
It could be different becuase he might not be able to handle the power coming from the rear as good as you Rick. I myself have that problem I can control a FF a lot better then a rear wheel or maybe I just care if I crash my rear wheel drive cars. The s2k is a fun car and really good bang for the buck not crazy about driving with the top down though.

I never considered owning a convertible, and although I had known and liked the Honda S2000, I didn't think it was for me. Then, I decided to look into buying a used one about two months ago. I had sold my car and wanted a new car. But there was nothing new that I really liked (and could afford). I had test driven the 350z, RX-8, EVO, RSX Type S and numerous other cars. Although I liked something about all of them, there were also things I didn't like. And I decided I didn't want to spend that much.
I had test driven an S2000, and although I thought it was cool, I thought it was small and wasn't sure if it was something I'd really want. But, once I sold my car, I found a good deal on a used one and bought it.
Even though I debated whether I wanted to keep it for the first week, all it took was for me to put the top down on the first nice day, and I LOVED IT! Also, I had thought about getting the RX-8 because it had more room. After test driving the RX-8, I was unimpressed. In fact, I got in my S2000 and realized just how much I loved it.
With the weather being nice (I'm in Florida), I've been loving every chance to drive the car. I put the top down and can't believe I never owned the S2K earlier than NOW!! I should have bought one a few years ago.
The car has great performance, handles well, looks great and the convertible top really makes this car enjoyable. And, of course, it's a Honda!!
This is the first car I've owned that I want to drive for no reason. I enjoy going on weekend drives just for the hell of putting the top down and driving! How many cars make you want to do that?
And like I said, I test drove many other cars. I've also owned various Hondas/Acuras including an Acura Integra Type R and a Subaru WRX. None of them compare or are as enjoyable as the S2K.
An NSX is a cool car, and I almost bought a used one, but the S2K appealed to me much more. And you can easily get a fairly new S2K for less than $26K and very low mileage.
I love my S2K.

Downgrading is like going from a 6 cyl accord to a 4 cylinder.
