it surprises me how many people who drive cars with a stick(not only the s2000) don't know how to properly downshift.

Best way to slow down is to use the brakes, that's what they are there for.

I don't feel comfortable putting it in neutral and coasting to a stop. I always downshift while using the brakes (heel-toe method, kinda). After 100+k miles in 2 cars I've gotten really smooth at it and if my Spoon exhaust was so DAMN LOUD I don't think anyone would even notice it.

I never had any tranny problems in my old civic and didn't even have to change the brake pads for 70k+ miles!

anyone get looks from people when you downshift? I notice people all turn around if they are on the side of the street when I downshift to take a street or something, it's pretty funny.

I've also had a guy stop in the middle of the road (walking) while I was downshifting to slow down when he was crossing the street, he threatened me because he thought I was trying to run him over

About the whole blip and shift thing: How do you know how much blip to give?

When you shift (in either direction) should you not try to make the RPM stay the same from where you left off?

That was my understanding since I first started driving. This is an interesting topic however. I have learned alot with this car and still continue to do so.

What are peoples thoughs on that?
