I was reading these boards for a while and I got puzzled why so many people are fixated on drag racing - sure, most of the time, NA 2-liter engine is going to get owned by big-ass V-8's, or by turbo-charged WRX.
Straight line acceleration was never supposed to be S2000 feature. Take em' through the curves - thats where car design shows.

and it is fun revving up the freeway ramp waiting for the vtec to kick in, to me that's a blast too, nothing wrong with that, just because with have a twistie battling car, doesn't mean we can't have fun driving straight either.

People can do whatever they want with their cars as long as they don't bitch when they break it. Yes the S is made for the road course, and arguably a Camaro is a "drag" car, yet they do quite well in the SCCA auto x events by me. There is no reason someone couldn't build a crazy drag car out of the S, but there are better platforms to start with in that regard.

With the right driver its a high 13 - low 14 second car, so why not drag race?

Santa, please bring me a sleigh full of clutches and differentials to support my 6,500 rpm clutch drops. I just have to show that all important person driving the Ford or Chevy or Evo who's boss.

One owner claimed 150 clutch dumps at the strip, and never encountered a problem. DavidM and another boardmember performed many 6-8k clutch dumps one after another whilst testing launching techniques for their S2k's, and everything held up fine. I think its a give and take thing, and I personally am not going to do 7k drops off every stoplight I go...but I do think it can take a limited amount of abuse at the very least.
