If the tires are too sticky the car will bog. The gearing/torque/hp of the S makes it hard to launch - we know that don't we? People who are good drivers (probably not me) seem to get very good launches with the stock tires. Just enough spin, just enough grip, to get you to VTEC and traction ASAP. You need to get to about 35 mph while the tires are spinning, then you want the tires glued to the ground - at this point you're well underway to a 5 sec (slightly +) 60 mph. It doesn't get much better than that (in an S that is)! IMHO racing slicks would just make it harder to get a good launch - and easier to tear up a differential!
ChrisD has one of the strongest, if not the strongest S2000 in USA.... 334 RWHP last time I checked.... but I imagine it will do a pretty good spin off the line. I am poretty sure he is on stock tires... and I think he got a 12.68 on them...
Yep, 12.68. With a 60 foot time of 2.1 or 2.2 I think.. That should tell you all you need to know.
(and if it doesn't, yes, I was spinning tires and letting out the throttle through most of 1st and part of 2nd).
