You probably know that I've done boucoup burnouts without any issues, and so have quite a few others, but we've also seen way too many busted differentials. If you want to have fun with the car why not go to an autocross rather than the drag strip? You'll have more fun and are less likely to break something.

I didn't intend to talk you out of taking the car to the strip (sorry ), but if you're not comfortable with the idea that you might break something expensive, then you at least need to consider the possible downsides.
i never really wanted to drag the car. but my friend CTECHs2k does it often and he talked me into doing it. i ended up wanting to do it just so i could run against him and see where i stand. now i'm 50/50...

i'll decide when i get there sunday haha. and it's no problem if you talked me out of it--i'm the one who's making the decision, and you are helping by providing useful information

CCR goes to Tunerfest every year, and everyone always takes part in the drags and dyno pulls. They're always after me to go too, but I know if I go I'll end up on the strip, and if I'm going to break my car, I'm going to do it doing something I enjoy more than drag racing. Not that I don't enjoy drag racing, but I enjoy it more when I have a car that is better suited to the task.

You and CTECHs2k need to go to an autocross or track day if you really want to compare driving skills.

If you do run the car, be sure to post your timeslips.

I'm sorry Nightcrawler; Didn't mean to freak you out. If you've read many of my posts you probably know I do lots of burnouts and other crazy stuff with my car, and haven't had *any* problems, but I wouldn't drive the car as hard as I do if I weren't prepared to fix anything I break. Maybe you should consider autocrossing rather than the drag strip. Easier on the car, and more fun too.

Of course you could always go to the strip and launch the same way you do on the street (ie. gently). Your 60' times will stink, but you'll still get to enjoy accelerating hard through the gears, and it'll be fun, even if your times stink.

yeah i've been wanting to auto-x for a while but it seems like a lot of hassle, and i'm lazy to start to try something new like that haha--Billy (CTECH) told me it's just $10 extra on top of the entrance fee to the event at MIR and you get a number and go up to the strip when they call your number. i'm basically doing that and not auto-xing because i'm a lazy ass
