yeah i've been wanting to auto-x for a while but it seems like a lot of hassle, and i'm lazy to start to try something new like that haha--Billy (CTECH) told me it's just $10 extra on top of the entrance fee to the event at MIR and you get a number and go up to the strip when they call your number. i'm basically doing that and not auto-xing because i'm a lazy ass
The only things you really have to do to get ready for an autocross is check the tire pressures, and get up early enough on Sunday morning to make it to the event in time to register. It's the getting up part that sometimes keeps me away.

UPDATE: i ended up making one run only. i did poorly, as it was my first time trying out dragging.

R/T: .506
60': 3.091
330: 7.307
1/8: 10.575
MPH: 76.15
1000: 13.381
1/4: 15.697
MPH: 97.12

my opinion after trying it: dragging is boring, unnecessary abuse on a [stock/lightly modded] S2000, and using it for something it's not intended for. kudos to those who choose to do it, but i'll never do it again. and it's not because i sucked i'd usually be right back on my feet ready to try again and improve my performance, but this is one thing i'd rather not try again. i think i'd enjoy auto-x a lot more. i'm going to look in to that

Well, at least you gave it a try, so you won't grow old wondering whether you'd enjoy it or not. I suspect that if you went to the strip with a more suitable car you might enjoy it a lot more. The S2000 really comes into its own on an autocross course and I think you'll enjoy it much more than drag racing.

wow, 15.7 1/4 mile!
this just shows that most races between similiar cars are about the driver and not the cars.

i was just reading how ppl were saying bad drivers can run mid 14's all day in a s2k while a good civic si driver can only do high 14's. that is definitely not true as you can see in the above time (not to say you are a bad driver or anything ). but ya, nxt time a stock si beats a stock s2k or a stock s2k beats a e46 m3... think driver first... b4 callin bs

i consider myself an excellent driver, but in the drag i found it to be mostly about your launch technique, which i sucked at on sunday. i've had great launches in the past (not on a drag strip though). i guess the surface of the drag strip combined with the tension of being on the drag strip and also the new tires was too much of a change.

Just becasue you can't (or won't) make impressive quarter mile runs doesn't mean that you're a bad driver. Drag racing requires specialized skills, just like autocrossing or road racing, and most of us have to learn and practice the skills to become proficient. I have run into a few (very few) people who seemed to be "naturals" and were able to autocross or drag race effectively right out of the box, but it's extremely rare.

LOL, that said, your times really do suck.

I suck at drag racing too, but my 60' times are closer to 2.2 sec. Makes me wonder what we're doing differently.
