A Dream Come True
When the S2000 first came out, I was just wrapping up junior high. I was generally interested in cars, and as soon as I heard about the s2000 I was mesmerized. I loved how it looked, the performance, and the engineering. It was amazing at the time for Honda to show up to the roadster scene and compete with and in many cases outperform the much more expensive competitors. It really took the category to a whole new level. I remember seeing the cover of this Road and Track: Honda's Surprise!

Even a few years into its life, the S2000 was still beating the best the competition had to offer. http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests

My interest in the S2000 continued through high school. As I got my drivers license I schemed and plotted about how I could get my hands on one. "If I mow X number of lawns at $15 each for the next 3 years maybe I could yet one..." Not surprisingly, with a high schooler's income, it was simply not to be. I was relegated to doodling the s2000 during my insufferable high school classes.
I was able to join some S2000 meets with my Honda Civic. I'm sure some of the S2000 owners must have found it strange...why was some kid in a civic showing up to there meets? They quickly found out about my enthusiasm for the s2000, and even back then in 2001-2003 the S2000 community was filled with great people who welcomed me and even gave me rides in their cars. If you look closely, you can see my civic at the end of this line of s2000s.

Which one of these is not like the other?

Then it was off to college and grad school. And finally, I was recently able to get my dream car. My 2002 Berlina Black S2k right after purchase:

And now:

Love this car! I think the 16 year old version of me would be very pleased. Going to enjoy it for many more years to come.

Congrats man, welcome to the club. I still have that issue of Road and Track and like you, immediately fell in love with the car when I read it. I finally got mine early this year and still get excited when I get to drive it.
Love the story. Not to unsimilar a reason for delay for me, just change some of the details, add marriage, move, family and business. It's amazing how so many of us saw, but than had to wait before we could buy. I think the waiting made it better.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
