Slot for performance, drill for looks. Stay away from both together.
I bought cryo treated rotors for my Acura TL-S. (still not installed yet)

You might find a better deal if you contact Jcarlton. His company does lots of cryo treated rotors.

Check out this thread in the Florida group forums:

I went with a set of black cad plated, drilled/slotted. With cryo treating they should hold up fine at the track. I also put on a set of OEM 2004 S2000 pads, they are a bit different compound and dust more, they may fade less but who knows, just wanted to try something different.

Right on man. It was an impulse thing. I was leaving for the USGP in like a month. Then Acura decided to machine the rotors at no charge. Now, 4 months later, I'm in the same boat.

I'll let ya'll know how they hold up when they're on.

I bought a set from Jcarlton: Slotted/Drilled, Plated, Cryo treated. They look great and held up well when I used my brakes enough to smoke my pads

If you are going for looks, do whatever you want. However, under stress, drilled rotors have a tendancy to crack and play connect the dots. Unless you are under extreme conditions (i.e. prolonged track use), rotors that are vented are perfectly fine for around town use.

Yup! that's what I heard when I upgraded mine back in the days. But I never auto-x and it was always for more of daily driver and mainly for the looks. And it looked so much better than stock! However, it does rust after awhile, so keep that in mind.

There are also "dimpled" ones that you can get and I think it comes with slotted/dimpled combo as well. Similar look as the slotted/x-drilled, but you can auto-x if you want.

Also, when I got my rotors (X4) it weighed only 35 lbs. When I shipped my stock rotors (x4) out, it ended up weighing 50 lbs. So, I think you can also save about 15 lbs. (I could be wrong though).

Definitely love the Spugen's wanabe! Has there been group buys on them in the past? I believe they are listed at $475 + shipping on their website. Not having a good feel for rotor pricing, is this reasonable?

I am installing some Centric Slotted and Cad plated rotors that came from Docofmind (Brakezone) thru Duc @ Spugen. I too wanted to avoid the cross-drilled because of cracking issues. Now I should be able to track these and have no fear of damage, and skip the rust look of OEM!!!
