Default Drilling into Center Console for PocketPC GPS?

I have a Pocket PC GPS on a gooseneck arm, which is attached to the passenger floorbolt. The arm extends up so that's it's adjacent to the radio. But the arm vibrates badly because it's so long, and it's both annoying and it tends to shake the mounting bracket loose. I want to anchor this arm against the center console, I'm thinking of drilling two small holes and screwing a bracket into the passenger's side of the center console? If I drill shallow holes, will this be safe?

as long as you're safe with it I don't see it being a problem.
