Default Drip drip drip - do S2000 roofs leak?

If I buy an S2000 she will have to live outside unfortunately as I have just bought a new house with 2 parking spaces but no garage.

Are S2000 roofs prone to leaks or are they pretty tight?

Is an S2000 suitable for living outside?

Any advice you could give would be gratefully received.

Giving presentations with a wet arse doesn't usually convey the right sort of image...

I have never had leaking problems in my S2000. Well, except in my AP1 when I had an actual hole in the roof. This has never been a problem with S2000s. So long as you keep them away from automated car washes, which damage the top, you will be fine.

Did you read your manual? You should never take your car through an automated wash, be it touch free or not!

Mine never dripped until i moved out to CA. Back home it rains almost every day for almost 6 months(not all day but at least once almost every day it will rain) . I didnt have a garage then and it NEVER leaked. I moved out here to Central Valley CA where it never rains. I did get caught in a rain storm a couple of months ago and sure enough, i had a drip on the Passenger side. I guess the lack of humidity and rain dried out my rubber seals. So, I went to the auto parts store and bought some Silicone spray. Took off all the rubbers on the top off, sprayed them down really good, put them back in and i havent had the problem since.

Compared to the British roadsters I've owned or family owned (TR3, TR4, TR6, & TR7)...the S2k is very water tight. OK...I know that isn't an impressive comparison (never could figure out why a country with so much rain created cars that leaked so badly ). But even compared to my old Miata, the S2k is much more water tight.

And in Florida my car has been outside for some torrential thunderstorms.

My '01 is also better than my old '99 Miata, and Miatas are considered pretty good at keeping water out. However, if you park near trees, watch out for those drains. They can get clogged with leaves and overflow all over the inside of your car.

Washing my car for hours sometimes i notice a bit of dripping in the front, but I think that's because my striker plates are worn down...
