I went from a 2002 AP1 to a 2006 AP2 and my only complaint about the DBW system is when you want to heel-toe around corners. The DBW system doesn't seem to respond as fast as a cable-driven one for quick jabs at the pedal. Other than that I haven't noticed any differences.

This is the only thing I miss from going AP1 to AP2. Most of the time I'm slightly under or over on the rev-match when heel-toe shifting.

I've had an 01 and now my 07. I cannot cite a single negative to having DBW. There is a difference in feel, but no delay or anything of the sort.

The heavy flywheel may not help either. I am running a 14lb AP1 flywheel instead of the stock AP2 22 lb flywheel; it makes a big difference.

I also took out the dam CDV.

I have an 04, but I'm really skeptical anyone would be able to feel a difference with DBW. Unless it's rocking a 33 mhz chip from 1992, it should be indistinguishable from instantaneous, all else being equal.

I agree with devs2k, probably the heavier flywheel for people moving from ap1s.

Mercedes has the worst. In my parents' 99 E320, I can stab the accel pedal and hit the brake pedal before the rpms shoot up

LOL

Going from an 02 into my friend's 06, gasing and downshifting feels completely different. There's a slight delay when I blip the gas. It's not a big deal but it's definitely not instantaneous like the earlier s2000s. Combine that with the cdv and it feels like a different car, imo.

I noticed that with the DBW there is a millisecond delay upon release of the throttle. IE on a redline shift the DBW will not close the throttle plate as quickly as I let off the gas. This resulted in me hitting the rev limiter.

Or the car would rev slightly after i let off the gas.

I will note this was corrected with when i got the Hondata reflash. IMO the #1 best reason for owning a DBW s2000. you just can beat a reflash. I love it for my KW s/ced S2000 and the N/a reflashes do great with headers.

My MY04 AP2 with a throttle cable did the exact same thing. So I suspect that DBW isn't the issue - perhaps it's the way Honda tuned the F22's fuel map.

What a relief. I guess I don't have to worry so much about getting an 04-05 S and can pick up a later one with lower mileage.

No one notices a difference in cold weather? I'm currently driving an 08' Si and the DBW is terrible. It's laggy, does go at all sometimes, and the revs can bounce up and down during moderate acceleration when the engine is cold. It ruins the car.
