The thing is you can program into the ECU for the DBW system to be razor sharp (Sport button on the E46 M3) or it can be slow and luxurious like the DWB system on the 06 s2k's.

Wow, trying to start something here? My parents just recently purchased an '06 V6 Accord. It employs DBW. The throttle response is instant. Why would Honda make the Accords' DBW so quick and the S2 so "slow and luxurios". That's because they didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't driven an '06, it's that it just wouldn't make sense for Honda to make a family car quicker to respond than an S2000.

My '06 is very precise -- maybe you should get your's checked under warranty

I prefer drive by cable. I want the controls between me and the throttle to be as simple and reliable as possible. From an innovation standpoint, DBW has some cool elements, I just don't I'll ever grow fond of it for any sportscar/racing application, though the potential benefits are inarguable.

The first car I drove DBW was an STI. I didn't like the feel. A week later the car was recalled/TSB because sometimes the throttle would stick and cause quite a scenario.

The last car I drove DBW was an 02 LS430. This DBW setup gave me no complaints, but I have nothing to compare it to as my older LS400 has a totally different feel.

electronics are generally more reliable than mechanics.

Not trying to start anything because I have an 06.

the response on my tsx is pretty good too...but only for everyday driving and getting off the line. Under heavy braking and heel/toe...I have to blip a lot harder/longer to bring the revs up in order to do a smooth shift but i'm slowly getting used to it.

the pre 05...you just blip the throttle a little and the revs jump up like a rocket which made track driving that much more easier.

The DBW in the 350Z can be tuned to be really sharp (as seen on the amuse 350z) so i'm hoping someone will attack this problem later on...

how exactly would you actually program it to respond more sharply, and who/where would be a place to do this at?

I had a TSX as well and I thought that car was horrible the delay was terrible when you tried to shift real quick nothing but throttle lag. I just picked up my 06 s2k last thursday and it feels very responsive no lag at all. Maybe what you are experiencing has something to do with the clutch delay valve. If you have not already done that mod give it a shot might solve your problem.

^^^ So many times my previous cars had issues with throttle cables getting stuck. I've also had this problem with my s2k.
