I owned an '05 for 6 years before it met it's sad demise
I replaced it with an '09. I did notice the dbw difference but it's nothing to be concerned about. You'll get used to it by your second or third time behind the wheel. It's very, very negligible.
I loved my '05. It was more raw. I've always run stock but I like the tuning options that dbw offers me this time around. It's preference. I guess it's kind of like the old AP1 vs AP2 argument. Some say the '04-'05 is the AP1 and 1/2.

FlashPro quick and dirty summary: it is an engine management system that grants you full control over the car's tuning including ignition timing and fuel mapping. Cost is $695 new or ~$600 used.

Reason FlashPro is awesome: you can combine the FlashPro with a high-flow cat or testpipe and have a vendor on S2KI e-tune the car for a 3500-4000 rpm vtec engagement (stock is 6000) and 8500rpm redline (stock fuel cutoff is 8200) which yields massive torque gains in the midrange, widens your powerband, and boosts your car's overall acceleration capabilities. Aside from this it makes the car much easier to drive day-to-day because you don't have to be on the edge of redline every shift to stay in the powerband. I recommend doing some research on this further, even if you think you do not have interest in modding your car. It truly transforms the car's behavior in a very good way for a very small outlay of money.

SOLD!!!!! my mouth is watering

i am guessing the stock internals will be okay, if I engage in VTEC sooner and higher Redline! ohh weee!

ITBs are a gimmick. Minimal performance gain. thousands of dollars, hours of tuning, and if you get into higher altitude the bog like crazy. Hell no. jm2c.

My S2000 has a throttle cable. My Cayman has DBW. I sure as heck can't tell the difference.

(Caveat: DBW allows the Porsche to have a sport button, which remaps the throttle sensitivity)

The F20/F22 engines in the S2000 have forged internals stock, and have been shown to hold upwards of 375whp with complete reliability in forced induction applications with no internal mods whatsoever. You're definitely fine with a custom tune on a naturally aspirated car--just make sure you use a reputable tuner. As mentioned in the thread I linked, I very highly recommend Gernby if you go this route. I honestly believe nobody else knows how to Flashpro tune an NA S2000 better than him in the world and he charges less than everyone else out there.
