Thumbs up Driver's Side Carpetting Question

Guys I've noticed a cutaway in the carpetting on the driver's side with a tab to hold in the floor mat screwed in. The car is a 2001. Is this normal? The previous owner who bought the car new told me that the car came like this. The 2004 I own doesn't have this.

What do you want to know other than "it's normal"?

Cars that came with the floormat option had the floor posts to hold them in place.

I just need verification from a few more people for reassurance. I'm in the process of buying another S2000.

My MY00 is the same way. Sounds like all is well.

Since the mats are installed during PDI, the size of the cut depends on how lazy the tech was in putting in the posts. Mine was careful, and my flap is much smaller, but it is there. You can see in your where the screw is holding the post - the flap you have completely exposes it. I would guess it's normal, if sup-optimal.

PDI stands for pre delivery inspection correct?

BTW I can't open my flap up like you are in your picture. Mine is held down by glue or double-sided tape

Hey tekstar it seems as if a lot of owners take the liberty to glue down that flap. I'm sure that's the reason why this is actually the first time I've ever noticed it in a S.
