my 07 is like that

 

mikeyr that's very interesting. I've never noticed this in my 04 so I thought that it was only in 2001s. I'll take a closer look at my AP2 tomorrow.

i have an 07 also, i will have to go check that out. never noticed it though.

I have that flap in my MY01. I also have another hole where the previous owner seemed to like to dig his heel in

I can't say about the later cars, but on the MY00 car in question, the cut is the result of a TSB. The original bracket that holds the pin that goes through the carpet hole was not secure and tended to rotate all the time (and it was a PITA). Honda issued a TSB with a new bracket and pin, and to install the new bracket, the carpet had to be cut. The cut position and length was spelled out in the TSB, but will vary depending on who did the cutting and performed the TSB.
