cmwaustin, which dealership do you use? My driver side window just recently started acting up just like yours, and I'd rather take it to the dealership that has already dealt with some S2000 issues.

I haven't yet had the need to take the car in, so I haven't investigated the three different dealer's shops in town, but I definitely see no need to be married to the one I bought from (Howdy) if another is better...

The problem does appear to be the driver's window motor, not the window switch. Since having my motor replaced a month ago, the problem has not reappeared.

Audball,

I've only taken it in for an oil change at this point. Took it to First Texas on Koenig. They seemed fairly knowledgable about the S2000, so I'll probably take it there when it's time to fix the window, etc.
Let me know if you use Howdy. I'm also curious about the dealers in town...

cmwaustin & Audball-

I've taken mine to Classic and First Texas... First Texas is better by far. I've been talking to Trudy there, and as soon as I get this other scratch fixed (someone backed into me in the Origin parking garage) I'm going to get the 1-2 grind fixed there. In the last couple days I've noticed that the driver's side window hasn't gone down when I lower the top, so I think I'll bring that one up the next time I talk to her and we'll see how it goes...

Please let me know if you've had positive or negative experiences at other dealerships in Austin...

chris_w,

Before you got the window motor replaced, could you operate the window manually? I can still use my switch to raise/lower the window when it fails to go all the way down, so I'm doubting it's the motor itself (otherwise the window wouldn't move at all...)

Dented,

Where are you having your body work done? I would HIGHLY discourage Mercedes Benz of Austin. I took my S2k to be repainted after gravel damage, & it's been back 6 (yes, SIX) times. Ridiculous.

Had the problem, got it fixed. Actually, the basic problem is that the "auto" function on the drivers window fails. The power top mechanism uses it when you lower the top. Doesn't happen on the passenger side 'cause the passenger side doesn't have the "auto" function. And yes, it is the motor/regulator, not the switch that is failing. Learned that the hard way.

So from what I gather, the motor needs to be replaced.

Could this be an intermittent problem?

Anyone get the motor replaced to have the problem re-occur???

This happened to me for the first time today. I've had the car since end of June and drop the top every chance I get...

What is the problem with that?
If you move out of northeast area, just take it off your window.
It's very annoying how some people just stop in the middle of EZPass booth and wave their tag around like idiots.

Does EZPass have to be in the window. Why not put paint it black and put it somewhere in the top deck?

I just hold my EZ Pass out the window. My friend now has EZ Pass which mounts to the front license plate. Instead of being a white square unit it is a black rectangular unit which mounts on the front license plate using the top two screws of the front plate.
