Default ? driveshaft, U-joint, or differential problems

Wanted to post for feedback concerning a new problem. I welcome any comments. I have about 4200 miles on my '00 and over the last 300 or so miles I have noticed a low frequency rumbling vibration/resonance at 62-66 MPH which is felt as much as heard and which is evident under steady speed in 5th gear, or 6th gear (minimal throttle opening), and also while coasting though of a lesser amplitude than when in gear. Has been getting more noticable recently. Seems dependent on road speed. Sounds like a bad U-joint or something in the drive shaft or differential. Since it is independent of engine RPM, I feel I can't blame the clutch/pressure plate or input shaft of the tranny even though I haven't had the clutch disc TSB done. Anyone else? The car has been driven spiritedly; however, no drag racing, hole shots, and very infrequent V-tech in 1st gear.

Wow, that was a long time for the first reply!

One problem with the U-joint hypothesis - there are none on our car . There are CV (constant velocity) joints on the half-shafts (Honda calls these "drive shafts"). There are no joints on the main drive shaft (Honda calls this a "propellor shaft") because the transmission and differential are fixed to the chassis so they do not move relative to each other.

Sounds like a typical CV joint problem. There have been numerous owners with CV joint problems. I don't know if you folks have had a chance to see the drivetrain setup on our cars or not, but it's pretty cool. The driveshaft looks different than anything I have ever seen before and it has no u-joints in it at all. It's solidly bolted to the transmission and the differential.

I also saw something that I didn't expect to see...a big rock rattling around in the frame of the charcoal canister. One less noise to worry about.

uh... the driveshaft (aka "propeller shaft") also has CV joints at each end.
