Driving 250 miles upon pickup...is this bad?
#1
I am planning on picking up my stook from a dealer 250 miles away. Is it bad for the engine break-in to drive 250 miles back home upon pickup? Being on the highway, I wouldn't be varying the rpm's as much. Any opinions and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I picked up mine from NM, well over 550 miles away. It was great, just keep the revs down below 6K and fluxuate the revs - in other words, don't let it sit there at 80mph for the entire time. But 250 miles? It shouldn't be that bad. Fortunately, by the time I got home, I was out of break in period, which meant, VTEC! awe yea.

KimchiHo: I'm from N. Calif.; Picked my S2k up in Oregon
and drove it straight home, 600+ miles. I took 10 hours in one day with stops. The car fit like a glove, and I couldn't leave the wheel. Great experience. I did not exceed 4000 rpm and varied the speed. No Vtec. I was told not to exceed 5,000. You'll be surprised, at 3000-3100 your speed will be 71-73 in sixth. Results, I had a compeletly broken in jewell when I arrived home. Since then. No oil consumption, and my car dyno's 210 at the rear wheels. And yes, Vtec!!!
Happy driving.

Just vary the loads, take a brief break for gas stops, and check the oil at each. I drove 1600 miles home in two days running from 45 to 105 mph. The engine has done fine with no oil consumption in 10K miles.
