I did this a couple years ago, drove MD to AZ, and made great time until Denver. There I took a day off early and had to rest. The quick change in altitude hit me. I was OK after a couple days, but certainly didn't expect it.

Also, take a GPS, If you have a laptop computer, you can get a USB gps for about $100. Well worth it.

yay philly! I little out of the way from I-80, but worth it. I don't get off work until late, but I would suggest stopping bye @ Pats (9th & Passyunk in south philly) for what a cheesesteak is supposed to be. Just remember to say "wiz with (or "whit" if you are trying to fit in)". I hope you have a GPS with you, if you do, go from pats to the philadelphia art museum area. That is a great area to park, stretch your legs and walk down the river by the boathouses. After you are done your walk, get back in your car and burn some rubber driving down the kelly drive. Its maybe three miles of some of the most fun driving in a roadster around. At the end of it, you can either get onto the expressway or continue the fun down the lincon drive (even more fun than kelly). If you do chose to run the lincon drive, you are gonna have to pull a U after the third light and run it again to get back to the expressway (I-76). Both roads are very much in the city so subject to traffic so be careful. It rarely has cops on it, but it is not unheard of. There aren't any on the lincon drive since there isn't any spot for them to hide. The only spot for them is right at the beginning as the road starts.

So that is my suggestion, go to pats king of steaks and then the kelly/lincon drives and you will have seen the best parts of the city for food and driving.... Can't forget, if you haven't seen independence hall or the liberty bell, those are nice stops too.

Thanks everybody. My first stop will be PHILLY on wed.
Well I hope you explore some of the roads in the Finger Lakes Region before you get to Philly... Or even the Catskill Region.
