Look, you're talking about driving a relatively light but powerful car where rev matching affects what happens, basic throttle inputs matter! You cannot exploit this car unless you have some serious time behind the wheel and understand the dynamics of a rwd, manual gearbox. This car has an engine that begs to be ragged until you think it can take no more, but it can, but you have to be part of the car.

This is not a V8 lump that responds to kick down, torque and being hamfisted. It has 6 gears, all that will land you in VTEC land. Dropping a gear, near or on the limit, will get you backwards if you are sloppy.

This is the wrong car to learn how to change gear in. Get a Civic, trash the box and learn how to do it properly, give the car some respect.

I've driven Elises, TVRs, Ferraris, etc... and they all bite, but they all reward.

Btw. I also have a bike licence and all my truck licence care of the British Army. Next you'll be asking what double de-clutching means.

Take your time and if you have to come on the forum to learn how to drive then God help us all.

1. learn from others who has manual shift (if none, take cheap course, i.e. community college). people recommend this because this is really the time that can eat up your tranny, might as well do on cheaper car.

2. get S2000 and start driving around...you don't really learn how to deal with hills, left turn acceleration, quick stops...until you really drive a manual car for a while (i say at least a couple months)

for example) i thought i learned how to drive a manual shift from my bro on parking lot on 1 day, but i never had manual car. so a couple years later, when time came for manual car, it felt like learning from scratch...

3. just take easy and learn how to go to places (Pt. A --> Pt. B), when you get comfortable, do your stuff (donut, spinning, cornering fast, wheely...)

4. if you want some serious learning after this, go to driving school.
