Default Driving without shoes

It just worked out today that I decided to drive my S home from the shoe repair bare foot--actually with socks on, just without shoes. I was surprised with the experience. I've done this with other cars before, but with S, the throttle is so sensitive that I liked the direct feel. Brake and clutch felt a little weird but I got used to them quickly. Rev-matching and hill-and-tow were definitely easier. I noticed more room above the knees and felt my legs were more relaxed. I recommend to give it a try. It was fun. I may do it again.

Maybe my size 10 feet aren't large enough, but I don't feel comfortable doing a heal-toe w/o shoes on.

Otherwise I quite enjoy driving without shoes.

I do it all the time

It beats driving in flip-flops for sure, and who wants to wear shoes in the summer?

yes it helps you to be even more in touch with the car, if possible.

my feet are entirely too small to do this... I am a male with a size 6.5 shoe. my foot is so small that my accelerator pedal covers 3/4's of my foot. I need the extra extentions that having shoes gives...plus I'm the Miata comes with a bare aluminum accelerator and due to use my brake and clutch no longer have anti-slip covers. the edges are very sharp and would cut my feet like a Ginsu knife.

I felt that the knobs on the pedals hurt my feets. Maybe I need to spend more time barefoot and develop some hardness in my soles.

I think in some jurisdictions, driving barefoot is illegal.

Is that true in Canada? I think it's generally been an urban legend.

Could be. I remember a long time ago I won a Gallon of beer on a bet because I said it was a myth in the place where I lived and I asked a cop and they said it was not illegal. Like you said though it could be on the books somewhere.

It would have screwed Fred Flintstone up though.
