Drove 350Z and S2k back-to-back
I went thru almost the same thing with the same cars. I test drove a 350, evo, sti, vw r32, and s2k. In all honesty, it wasn't about the performance for in any of them, and to be very honest I would be driving a black R32 right now if they hadnt sold it before I got approved for my loan. Me being german and 6'2 220, the german car definitely handled my size better, but I definitely don't regret getting a S2000. I've owned all Honda's since I was 15 so I'm glad I got the S2000 in the end. Hope you get yours soon!
I liked the '07 350z rental I had in Cali.
The torque was very enjoyable, and made me wish it was a 6-speed.
I haven't had a chance to drive a manual Z yet, but I think it'll be more fun than an automatic.
But for some reason, whenever I was in the market for a sporty DD(I've owned 4 different cars for the past 6 years) I didn't consider the 350Z.
It's not that it's a bad car.. as a matter of fact, it's a very good car IMO.
But it's.. undesirable.
My brain knows it's a good car, good bang for the buck, etc. but my heart doesn't want it.
It doesn't have that soul... and it's.. EVERYWHERE!
Don't get me wrong. I always turn my head when I see one, and it's a best seller for a reason.
I just don't see one in my garage.

the best is when you've got a passenger with you and they look over and you've got the shit eating grin goin on. they always ask why i look so happy, but all i can do is downshift, smile, and hit the gas.
The S2000 is such a drivers car. It's so much fun to drive that it's easy to overcome the lack of torque and HP.
If you can get over the impracticalities, it's hard to beat for a shear driving experience. That's for sure!

Congrats! I drove a much less impressive car than a 350 in comparison, but the difference was enough for me to know I had to get an S. I was in a 00 Civic Si that was stolen, and went to test a Scion tC as it had similar power. The car had pretty bad body roll, understeered too much, shifter felt like doodoo, and it felt slower than my just stolen Si. The interior was really cool though. I then test drove an S2000 and the salesmen was like "whoa now, don't want to crash this badboy!" after I took the thing to 9K through a few gears. I was hooked and found one in the following week to purchase!

GREAT QUOTE, and good for you for sticking with it.
