Default Drove on a flat tire

I'm really bummed out.

Long story short I drove home on a flat without noticing. I thought something was up but the car was driving straight. I didn't notice until I got home and took a look at the tire from a distance. I also started to smell burning rubber. I feel like a complete idiot.

So my question (there is always one).

Could I have done any damage to the car outside of the tire?

Also I read that I need to put the doughnut on the front (flat is rear left) and put the front on the rear. Is this correct?

I have an appointment tomorrow at 7am to get the tire looked at :/

Thanks.

You'd definitely want a real tire on the rear. You should be fine, as long as there's no damage to the wheel. Other than that, unless you hit something big you should be Ok.

Trust me, I'm sure a lot of us have done much dumber stuff . Don't sweat it, it could happen to the best of us

Thanks guys got the tires switched, looks like the puncture is on the side of the tire. I believe that you usually want to replace 2, any one have input on this? Should I replace all 4? It's a bit pricey.

Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding tires? I think that tirerack will be the cheapest option.

If the puncture is through the sidewall the tire is toast. If I were you I would replace the two rear tires to keep the diff safe from stress.

tires on the same axle should always be replaced together.

you should be fine just replacing the two tires. The way our tires wear they wind up totally off rhythm with each other anyway...

Get the same tyres you're running at the front. Mixing tyres can work, but it's better to have the same type/model all around.

Semantically interesting; phrase has a long history. With any two tires sharing an actual axle quickly becoming a thing of the past, we need a new way to describe this.

Oh, yeah -- yes, replace them together.
