Default dual Exhuast?

Why are there two mufflers on a s2000? I mean, the exhuast note is sweet, do not get me wrong, but there is only one bank of cylinders and a single header. Are the aftermarket exhuast systems with only a single muffler more likely to give a larger amount of power (i know not alot either way, but still want to know) Thanks, Mike

Because to be able to quiet the exhaust down to the level that is required by the Government WITHOUT LOSING MUCH HP due to increased back pressure, you need exhaust canister volume. You can do this with one big muffler or two smaller ones. Two smaller ones fit the car better and also look better.

Honda did an excellent job with the exhaust because aftermarket ones do not improve on it much if at all.

Niceeeeeeeee! It does look sweet, just wondering why it was like that. I love the single exhuast of the supra/rx7, but the dual fits the s2k very well. Mike
