Default Dual outlet, Single Functional

Hello...

Everyone knows that single exhausts make more power. However, I personally think duals look better - they have that balanced, symmetrical, aggressive look (with that said, I have a single).
I was wondering if anyone knew of an exhaust kit that had dual tips, but only single functional? It wouldn't add much to either the cost or weight... If you don't know what I mean, imagine the Dinan exhaust for the E46 M3. Just a thought? Kinda goofy with steam or exhaust out of one side, but hey...

Depending on what your trying to do.......the amount of gains from a single vs. dual is pretty minimal...

For example if your completely NA then every number counts... but if your FI for example... unless your a SERIOUS numbers freak....the difference in single vs dual gets swallowed by the overall gain in general.

JMO...

I'm NA.

I had HKS dual hi-power with 0 gains, and now T1r 70r with 14whp gain!
But the HKS sounded and looked way better....

Wyatt, did you dyno yours? I am in the middle of a transaction for that same exhaust, I'm stoked!

Nope, never dyno'd...
I should have done a baseline, but I never got to it. I hope to do a dyno when the project is done this spring, though!!
You wont be dissapointed!!!

don't know of any exhaust systems that work like that but that would be nice. If you were to just put a 3inch straight pipe and purchase two after market mufflers (only one working, the other one welded on somehow for show), do you think you can get any hp gains? I find that might be the only alternative.

You could just have one of the mufflers hanging and paint the piping black, no one would notice.

Yeah, or you could add a couple "VTEC INSIDE" stickers

You're adding another 15-20 pounds. If you're really just into aesthetics, go for the duals already out there. But since you seem to be more performance oriented, the singles already look awesome.

F'ck it.

1. Purchase the dual you think looks best

2. Cut it after the ~ Y ~ pipe on the unused side

3. Weld a plate (or something) to seal the unused side off

4. Weld your exhaust back together at the ~ Y ~

5. Bam... No rice, yet functional single exhaust with a TRUE dual look

That's what'd I do. Now that I think about it, it seems like a pretty good idea. But like what's-his-face said, you might possibly negate the few HP increase you'd receive by adding the extra dead weight.

* Best part is... if your functional side muffler ever took crap on you, you would have (in a sense) a brand new muffler on the other side to replace it with!! *

I once saw a Civic with dual exhaust. I knew, though, that it was only functioning as a single. The left exhaust tip was cleaner than dentures in the morning...while the right side was black like, well, a working exhaust tip.

Don't fake it, your car is already badass.
