Default Durability Of The Soft Top

I've performed several searches on these forums looking for information regarding the soft top in bad weather (sleet, snow, ice, etc...). I have found several threads regarding the application of this wonder product (303) and how it protects against what Il consider to be regular elements (sun, rain, wind, birds). I have not seen any mention of how an S2k soft top holds up after being frozen, or stuck in the snow.

How well does the top survive frozen conditions? I guess my question is aimed at the members who use the S2k everyday, not just on the weekends or the 'nice' days.

I have been interested in getting an S2k for some time, but several questions regarding the top have delayed my purchase.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been through two winters of daily driving and it looks good as new.

My top is in ok condition...it's got those infamous wearholes and is not as "black" as it used to be. I haven't used any protectant on it.

I'm probably gonna buy another top hear soon...with a glass rear window and install it myself. I'm sick of having a grimmy plastic window that obstructs my vision.

I know this is a really old thread. But i have a question along the same lines. The last few years here in Oklahoma their has been sever ice storms. They only last about a week and then its back to normal. I wouldn't think of driving an s in this weather. But my car would be parked out of a garage during the storm. It basically rains ice if you dont know what i mean by ice storm. This ice sticks to everything trees roofs cars everything. So an inch of ice on a car wouldnt be unheard of. How would the soft top of an s stand up to an inch of ice being frozen to the top of it.

I always try to brush ice and snow off of the roof after it snows. I feel that a lot of weight on it might not be good. It probably doesn't matter, but I still like to get the weight off.

Also, the OM states not to lower the roof below I think around 45 degrees F.

What about a car cover. Say you have the cover on and theirs an ice storm at night.. would that be better or worse for the car and the top.

I have an '01 with what I am assuming to be the original soft top. It has now got a couple really small rips but I think they are starting to grow. Showing it's age now. I am looking to replace it shortly with a glass rear window and defrost one shortly.
