Default Dust Cover as a Rain Cover?

I'm going out of town next week and, since I have no garage space, would like to buy the dust cover to cover my S while I"m gone. Question: Is the dust cover made to protect the car from rain too? Can it survive being soaked off and on?

If you're talking about the stock dust cover, the answer is no. You have to get a cover designed for outdoor use.

No car cover will be 100% waterproof because if it is the cover won't breathe. Which is bad for the car.

The dust cover will not protect against rain. I did once leave my top down with the cover on and it rained like a monsoon for about 30 minutes. The water pooled on the cover and my seats did get damp, but there really should have been buckets or water in my interior.
