Default Dying Tonneau Cover Blue...

A while back someone was experimenting with dying the tonneau cover to match their blue interior. I believe they found a place that could match the colour almost perfectly. I've spent the last hour searching, but haven't been able to locate the thread or original poster. If anyone can help me out either finding the old thread or recommending a place that can do this, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers.

You may be thinking of Sean at the Leather Institute in New Jersey. You can pm him using his screen name: "2002s2k". I had him color my red boot cover and it looks good, except for some overspray on the black piping around the edges. Be sure to ask him to mask those edges if he does yours.

Thanks for the info papalegate.

Was this a paint or dye that was used on your cover? Do you have any pics of the match?

Thanks again

Sorry, no pics. Appears to be more like a coating bonded to the original black vinyl surface than a true dye. The shade of red they developed is a very close match to the red leather on the seats.

I guess it doesn't really matter as long as it's flexible and doesn't flake off.

How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

I PMed him, just waiting to here back. Thanks again for your help.

I was the one experimenting with the blue dye... I ended up having Sean do my boot as well. You should definitely give him a PM. I'm away from my car, can't get you pictures until September, but it came out well. Very reasonable price as well.

Thanks CoastS2k.

Talked to Sean and I agree, very resonably priced. I'm gonna get it done as long as I can manage to get it to him...

Well, to finish this topic up, I (finally) got to my new home and got some pictures taken with my convertible boot as dyed by Sean (2002S2k). The color looks great, and it looks like a factory piece. The quality is excellent. I would highly recommend anyone who wants a boot other than black give Sean a PM.
