I am going to be doing my speaker upgrade soon. Before I take the door panels off I was wondering if I could get some advice.

Is there room in the door to add dynamat?

Has anyone done this and does it actually help or is it a waste of money?

Did you do the whole door or just around the speaker?

I don't know if it was Dynamat, but my installer did put some deadener in the doors, so I imagine it can be done.

Its all nice and good. Yes it can be done. Though unless your gonna go whole hog and do the whole car unless its rattling or reverberating LEAVE IT ALONE. If your doing a huge stereo system then fine.

Though this is an open top car. To really do it right you would dynamat the hole door outside panel and inner panel. Floors firewall and transmission tunnel. Very very labor intensive and time consuming.

Pinky,
just FYI, you need to update your web site. Still pointing to old board and no mention of this board.

My installer used dynamat in the doors because at high volumes there are surfaces that buzz a little. I am happy with the result.

My door speakers were too deep, so build outs were used when mounting them. I ran it this way for a while, then used sound deadening material over the build out and on the door. I did one side and listened for a difference. The bass out of the speaker with the material was tighter with less distortion. All in all, well worth doing.
