Tritium you're probably gonna want a trim removal tool, makes the clips easier to save.

Visser,
I think most of your drone improvement came from doing the tray and fenderwalls. Stuff your trunk full now and you will not see any change, even though you added more insulation. Once you get the passenger area you will HEAR the difference. It is night and day from what you have already done.

You may be right. I can't wait to hear the difference after the passenger area is done. I have more of a gear howling issue than droning. Every new sound proofing step is helping that, so I hope this next step is the last one I need.

The dynamat will allow you to pull off the coating if you don't like the results.
is there a reason why you wouldn't like the results? (e.g., accidentally put on too much? uneven surface?) not flaming in the least, just curious since romduck also mentioned putting quietcoat over dynamat (which i'm assuming is for the same reason?)

if i do the quietcoat thing, i'd probably just skip the dynamat (i'm just looking for some reduction in noise, not make the car super-silent or anything, plus am too lazy lol ), so just want to make sure i'm not going to be doing some sort of irreversible disastrous thing by not bothering to put it over dynamat

thanks!

I used the dynamat because it's an instant 1/16th inch of sound absorber. It's also made up of a different compound so it might hit a different resonance frequency than the quietcoat alone. I think 3 coats of quietcoat dries to about a little more than 1/16 inch so I get a solid 1/8 inch of insulation without having to put down a total of 6 coats of quietcoat (only 3). The drying time can be long.

I made the comment of dynamat/quietcoat removal because it has been brought up in another thread by someone who wanted a reversible mod and quietcoat doesn't remove easily by itself.

You can reduce drying time of each coat to 30 minutes or less with a table fan running at low to medium speed.

So guys, I presume I missed the original thread on QuietCar that asked the obvious question concerning quieting down a noisy muffler----Can it be applied directly to the muffler? I gather it would burn off, eh?

My magnaflows are chromed so coating them wouldn't be an option for me. The intent on this thread is to quiet/redirect the "drone" not the exhaust note or sound of an aftermarket. The stock exhaust system is too tame to even bother quieting.

It's all a balancing act.

A gallon of quietcoat runs about $75/shipped.
2 full sheets (one box) of dynamat from partsexpress.com runs about $50/shipped. (the shipping is steep for the weight of these)

Start with these quantities and go area by area until you run out. You won't be disappointed.
