I'm a new driver with stick, I'm just wondering if rolling backwards is easier in the 2.0L since it has longer gears.

I didn't have problems in the AP2.

You shouldn't have a problem with the AP1 either, or any vehicle with a functional parking brake for that matter.

You're not going to roll backwards unless the car is in neutral or the clutch is in. Neither one of those conditions have anything to do with gear ratios.

I think we need more information.....

Are you refering to starting out on a hill?

Are you refering to parking on a hill?

When I drive my dads old truck it's got a really loose clutch, when I was in the AP2 I only had to press slightly down to let up barley to reengage.

Your question still doesn't make sense. Are you asking about driving backwards up a hill using the reverse gear?

Trust me... every driver goes through the "aww shit, im at a up hill" stage. Dont worry, it should pass after you get used to it, probably take you weeks or maybe months to get absolutely confortable with it.

Usually it's just up to the drivers not the cars.

I think he's wondering if it's harder to get it started promptly on a hill since first gear is taller and the engine makes less torque.

I'd expect it just might take a few more revs and a bit more clutch slipping than the AP2, but you won't have any real trouble. These cars are no less peppy off the line than a Civic or any other regular car.
