Is it easier to roll backwards on a hill in a AP1?

Engage parking brake
Ease out clutch, apply gas
When clutch engages, release parking brake.
Works everytime AP1 or AP2. Not very macho, but neither is rolling backward in to someone's car.

So true. If I have any inkling of a worry about what's behind me I use the e-brake.

I think he's wondering if it's harder to get it started promptly on a hill since first gear is taller and the engine makes less torque.
I'd expect it just might take a few more revs and a bit more clutch slipping than the AP2, but you won't have any real trouble. These cars are no less peppy off the line than a Civic or any other regular car.
