ECM/immobilizer problems
Yep, that green key light comes on and blinks and blinks... I tried to to start the car and you can hear it trying to turn over but since the ECM cuts the fuel supply I guess that ain't gonna happen. Tried my spares, no go. Guess its off to the dealer on a flat bed. ARGH! I hate things I can't fix myself.
Can someone confirm that this is solely a ECM/Immobilizer issue? Anyone else had this problem? The car has been sitting a lot. I haven't driven it in 2 weeks. I first thought it was the battery because it tested on the low side. What could cause this?

Lucid, I sent you a pm, but this exact thing happended to me. And I believe it has happened to at least two other owners on this board.
In my case the dealership replaced ( under warrenty ) several immobilizer parts including the transponder.

Lucid- be sure there's nothing else on the key ring that might confuse the system, like a Mobil Speedpass- if there's nothing else, then it's back to the dealer, they should certainly pay for the transport if it's under warranty.
My 98 Prelude SH did this intermittently. It was one of the first Hondas with an immobilzer and none of the dealers knew a damned thing about it, so I lived with it.
I usually found the key had to be removed from the ignition and the door opened and closed for the system to attempt to read the key again.
Also when you start the car let the key sit in the ignition for an extra second to make sure it gets a chance to read it. Sometimes in the Prelude I would start it too quickly and it didn't get a chance to read the key. Also when you stop the car dont rip the key of the ignition in one motion. Give it an extra second to exchange info with the computer.
I definately agree about the Speedpass issue. I had that happen to me and relocated the speedpass to the center console. Also your not supposed to put any other coded keys on the same keyring as the immobilzer key. Most manufacturers are using this now, so you have to be really careful.
You could have a problem if none of this crap works. Since my dealer was clueless I just lived with the problem on my old car since it wasn't something that happened all the time. Knock on wood my S2000 hasn't done it once!

yeah I tried my spare keys- bare no keychain. One day its fine the next its just sitting there.
Funny, the starter will turn and try to start the car, but i guess since the ECM holds back the fuel supply it ain't gonna happen.
The green light just keeps on blinking.... Well i gotta get the seat belts fixed under recall. Bout time for an oil change. I let them sort it out and give them hell if the screw it up.
