Default edmunds.com trashed the jag x-type

in case some of you are interested in this car, go check it out. the bottom line, every other entry level lux car is either better or cheaper than this piece of junk. i guess ford screwed up again.

I wonder how it would have tested w/o all the doo-dads, and the no-cost-option 5 speed tranny....around $37k msrp for the stripped down version.

That was pretty harsh. I love the comment that goes something like...if you get the bigger engine, sport suspension, and manual transmission, maybe the car would have driven been better. Hey man, do that to any trim line (Altima, Jetta, Audi, BMW, etc.) and of course it would drive better. Let's face it, for the $$, the car is not very good.

I drive a Jaguar XKR and I love it, but I think the latest entries--the S and X types--compromise Jaguar's standing as a producer of beautiful cars with sporting pedigrees. Admittedly, they've had a lot of problems, most stemming from the era of the Prince of Darkness (Lucas electrical systems). Ford did a good job of raising the quality control on Jaguars up to now, but their bid for the entry-level luxury market has missed the mark on a lot of levels.
I think they should have spent their time and money getting the F type into production--I'm on my dealer's waiting list for that baby. (I sure hope they don't screw it up!)

It looks like a ford, sounds like it's built like one too Then again I'm not a big fan of grease puddles and burning oil so generally avoid Jags anyway. It's not like their quality went down in any way. My uncle had a V12 Vander Plas which I drove when it was about 2 years old. What a piece of dung that was.

cthree, someday I'll take you for a ride in my XKR. It will at least show that not all Jaguars burn oil and leak grease. It will also drive your back against the seat with acceleration!

what is it about some of these euro branded cars? they seem to get recognition for something...what is it?

i have always hated - dispised Jags, ppl refer to them as stylish? WTF? pompous ass anal crap more like it.

they are god damn ugly, like most of the european crap like alfa, saab, audi, mercedes, rols/bently, renault and on on on....

whats the mentality here????

geez - some of this eurotrash makes Toyota's whoring seem justifiable, they make subarus almost attractive in comparision.

Am i the only person that feels like Honda doesnt get the recognition it deserves?
