Thumbs up Electronic Rust Proofing

Does anyone know anything about electronic rust proofing? There are a lot of people that say it works and there are also a lot of skeptics. Anyone have it on their S2000? Is it worth getting on a new s2k or just a gimmick? FWIW, I live in Santa Barbara so I'm near the beach but nowhere near salted roads

WTF is "electronic rustproofing"? Are you referring to some sort of cathodic protection scheme?

I have yet to hear anyone who has had any rust problems with the S2000. Why would you worry about it?

It's basically a little black box that goes in your engine bay that puts an electrical current through the car chassis that supposedly stops rust from forming.
OK, you are talking about cathodic protection. The way it works is that it turns the steel you are protecting into a cathode, and turns a sacrificial piece of steel into an anode. The anode corrodes away, while the cathode does not.

But again, I ask why? Where is this vast number of rusted out S2000s that you desire to avoid being like? You might as well invest in a grounding kit and a Tornado Fuel Saver as well.

I have heard about it on boats, in fact the last two boats I worked on cathodic devices', but they were used for the raw water system to prevent growth of critters and other salt water corrosion throughout the cooling system and attached raw water systems, but I never heard of them fighting rust.

Doink, I worked in the harbor on as a boat mechanic. When I leave here I plan to move back again.

Rust is just a specific type of corrosion.
