Emission test question

Default Emission test question

I have to go for a emission test but Im running a test-pipe, will my car pass?
Someone told that they only plug something into ecu and thats how they check it...

lol Yea especially since your car is running OBD2. Just take a couple minutes to bolt the old Cadillac Convertor up

Of course not. That's why all reputable sellers of "test pipes" sell them for "off-road use only."

It's a federal offense to remove a working catalytic converter from your vehicle. If he only does a sniffer test then you will probably fail that, if he does a visual test underneath the car then failing emissions could be the least of your worries, depending on whether the guy wants to be a dick or not.

Actually it is a federal offense to modify almost every componet of the engine/exhuast/intake/ECU/etc... unless you are replacing those components with ones that have been EPA approved(EPA anti-tampering law). A good many if not most parts fall under this. The fact is it doesn't matter if it is a federa offense or not, simply put it is not enforced except at the professional shop level, they tend not to go after individuals.

In my city the very first thing they do is slide a big mirror under the car to see if the Cat is there. If it's gone they don't even bother with a test.
