Default engine breaking vs breaking

i rarely use engine breaking entering corners or to stop.. i think it's not too healthy for the motor. however rav matching 'down shifting' is what i do most, if not netural breaking.. easy on the clutch and motor. maybe you can benefit from this too.

Well, the way I see it..

If you're engine breaking, you have a car left. If youre just 'breaking, you're eithier break-dancing or you broke your car?

Anyway, engine brAkeing is recommended (and the license test people will fail you if you dont) because its dangerous to suddenly drop it into a gear and not revmatch -> the 'shock' could make you spin out if you do it noob-ly enough.

People also do it while racing since its faster than neutral-ing into a turn, then having to revmatch while coming out of a turn. ->drop gear, revmatch, engine brake while braking, then as you come out of turn, youre in the right gear, etc etc.

'revmatching' and letting off the throttle already means youre engine braking!

I don't see much benefit in breaking your engine or breaking the car in general.

Braking, on the other hand...

No one here wants to break their engine.
