Default Engine number pic...

I am buying a car from a dealer in a different city than me, and we are trying to locate the engine numbers.

I gave him the description "The engine number is located in a couple areas. One is on the engine itself, in the front right (looking at the car) just below the valve cover. The other is in on a plate just in front of the radiator at the front of the car after you open the hood."

He still can't find the number.

Attached is a picture of a stock s2000 engine bay. Can someone please draw an arrow to the two locations of the engine number? (ms paint baby!)

anyone??? Someone must know.
I've seen many threads about "where the engine numbers are located", but none with pics.
I'm sure this would help others out as well.

What do you mean by engine number? Are you talking about the engine model? (F20C/F22C)

That looks to be an F20C based on the spark plug cover, unless someone swapped it.

No, you are right, it is a F20C, but there is supposed to be an engine serial number stamped near the valve cover and near the rad on a plaque. I was hoping someone could draw an arrow to exactly where they are. With a 2002 model s2000, you can check to see if you have the old or new style banjo bolts by the engine serial number.

The engine serial number is a better topic header, sorry. Every S2000 has a unique engine number.

Should look like F20C xxxx xxxx I think.

Any help would be appreciated!

I would hope so. If you can figure out how to make the same engine run multiple cars simultaneously you'd really be on to something!

Just wondering why you want the engine's serial number?

Trying to see if the 2002 S2000 I'm looking at buying has the original motor, and if it has the new engine bolts.

Does anybody know
Please point arrows in the picture (located at top of thread) where they would be located.
Thanks!!!

I never even though to look for the engine number... even if you find one how can you tell that it wasn't a swapped engine? Either way, as long as the car runs well it shouldn't matter. If you're picky on the bolts, just swap them out. Sorry I can't be of more help.

If the plaque near the rad with the engine number is different than the number stamped on the block, then I can ask questions. They "should" be the same to my knowledge.
