What oil brands do you recomend for my s200??? Castrol, Motul, Chevron, etc.

Synthetic or Semi synthetic.

 

I don't know what to put in a s200, but for my s2000 I use Mobil 1 10w-30 with a Fram tough guard filter.

 

I just did my 1st oil change yesterday, and put in Castrol GTX Drive Hard. I says it's designed for high reving engines.. Well ours revs pretty damn high.

 

I've used Castrol for years and have always been happy with it. I intend to use it at the first oil change in my S.

I just put Mobil 1 into my 4Runner. This is the first time I've tried a synthetic oil. I am curious to see if my mileage gets better.

What is the preferred filter. I've used Fram filters for years, but lately I've heard conflicting things about them. Some think they are good and some think they are not so good. What should I use on my S?

 

How much did you guys pay for these Synthetic oils? I went to Pep Boys and Mobil 1 synthetics priced at $30 for 6 qts. Does this sound reasonable?

 

nothing but Mobil 1! Cheapest price is at walmart, about $3.50 a quart.

 

I paid either $24 or $25 for a case of 6 quarts of Mobil 1 at Sam's Club. I've heard that Sam's Club, B.J.'s or Costco is the place to buy Mobil 1.

 

I am using Mobile 1 Supersyn. It's great, the engine runs much smoother. I've heard that Valvoline Synpower is good stuff, and I'll try it considering it costs less than Mobile One.
Royal Purple is the "exotic" in my opinion. Nothing special, except the smell(Fruity).
It causes no harm to switch to a new brand every oil change. Since we've got to do it every 3000 miles or so, we can really try all of these out for ourselves.

 

Tomorrow i'm going to get a maintainance service in a garage, but i always leave my s2000 in there and go home waiting their call, i wonder what else they do, beside the oil changing and filter changing...

 

I would say that the best oil filter is Mobil 1 or K&N. They are made by the same outsourced company.

As for oil, I am not sure who to believe. In terms of Synthetics, Amsoil vs Mobil 1 vs Motul vs Redline etc.. who knows who is the best. I am on Amsoil now, but my MPG has dropped a few MPGs from when I was on dino juice. I'll give Mobil 1 a try next and see if consumption and MPG improves.

For regular dino, Castrol GTX and Mobil Drive Clean are probably the top two.
