engine oil brands
WalMart has Mobile 1 in a 5 qt container for less than $18. I run Castrol GTX in my car now, and was thinking of changing to Mobile 1 at 10,000 miles. I was reading on the Mobil 1 container that the 10W-30 is for "higher mileage" engines and that it had additives that help the seals on older engines. I wonder what that stuff is and if it is good for newer seals?
Ive been thru mobil1, elf semi-synthetic, honda feo typre-R oil and royal purple dr21
i highly recommend the poyal purple dr21 the most! much smother...
worst oil is def the feo honda type-R oil

I'm going to get a maintainance service in a garage, but i always leave my s2000 in there and go home waiting their call, i wonder what else they do, beside the oil changing and filter changing...

Dam suzukablus2k, that's not to re-assuring to the kid, but it's very true. Hey mocantec, maybe you can do a little undercover work all of us and for yourself. Have a stakeout, and watch your car from afar while they service it. A real pro should, at a "service", do the following: change oil and filter, grease all fittings(probably doesn't apply to the S2000, grease that is), check and fill all other fliuds, INCLUDING the transmission gear oil and rear axle gear oil, quick visual on belts and hoses. There is NO REASON for a car to be road tested after an oil service. When they're done, ask politely if these things were checked. If they comply and don't drive your car down the road, I'd say you're dealing with an exellent(and rare) repair shop. Good luck.
I've used Royal Purple for many years now. Suffice to say, based on what I've put it through, the oil has definitely lived up to my expectations.
I've also used Amsoil, Mobil1, and Redline, and believe any of them to be top oils. Any reputable synthetic will be fine, provided you follow the proper break-in for your motor. I ended up sticking with Royal Purple because I could conveniently order it online at a good price, and get it shipped to my door. I get it from oiltown.com. Great service, great prices. No affiliation.
