What year is your S2k? I just had a safety recall done on MY00 to replace all spark plugs because there were some cases in early models where the plug wasnt torqued enough, would rattle loose, and sometimes break off into one of the cylenders = blown engine. It was free for mine because it is a "safety" recall as opposed to a TSB like my clutch buzz :/

Also, do not let the dealer know you had anyone look at it first, not even your friend...some dealers will try to weazle out of covering the damages if they know someone looked at the car before them.

60-70mph in 2nd gear when you shifted to 3rd...

 

I am willing to bet that 60-70 is Kph, not Mph. This is a Canadian thread.

 

definately a shift from top of 2nd into 3rd on an ap1. I'm also curous to see what actually happened to this car. My guess is loosened spark plug broke and went into engine which caused it to go boom.
