Default Engine replacement: AP1 or AP2

Hey question for you guys. I own a 2001 and need a new engine for it. Because it is a 2001, I thought I had to get an AP1 F20c engine in it, but from reading this thread (https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/544...fe-expectancy/) it seems that people prefer the AP2. Do I have any options, or do I have to get the AP1 because I won a 2001 model? Thanks for your time!

I own a 2001 F20C, I am currently replacing it with an F22C.. the 04 and 05 which still used throttle by cable require no changes to swap...

NotreDame, I have an 01 with an F22c engine. It works brilliantly. The only thing I have to remember is my electronics are still AP1 so it means I have to be cautious chasing redline since the f22c is lower.

Just be prepared for a hit in value when you sell the car down the line. Most people buy an AP1 for the engine and likewise for the AP2. Also, I would test drive an AP2 first to make sure you will be happy with the decision. Good luck!

If you have a bias, you are *biased*, not "bias"!

I'd definitely try to get an '04/'05 2.2 liter. Just don't take it to 9k all the time! 8500-8600 should be a safe limit, with occasional excursions to 9k. I think...

Noo! F20c love forever!!!! I love my AP1. Stick with the F20c, lol
To be honest though, I've never driven the F22c.
I guess it would really depend on your future plans for the S. Is she just going to be your daily? Do you track her? Do plan on any engine mods? Etc...

Is that why I'm seeing so many "I am bias" comments on the interwebz? Some stupid autocorrect incorrectly "correcting" the already-correct "I am biased"?
