Default Engine Serial# for Replacement Short Block

Recently had the short block replaced in my MY00. Car is running great and I have not experienced any problems. However, I cannot figure out the engine serial# for the replacement short block.

According to the Helms manual, the engine number for an MY00 US is the following format:

F20C1-100XXXX

My replacement block's serial# format is F20C1-010XXXX.

Anyone know why this serial# is not in the normal factory sequence?

Aside from satisfying my curiosity, I'd really like to know if this replacement short-block does or does not have the upgraded oil-bolts installed.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Here's my educated guess. The "XXXX" only equates to 9,999 engines. Since they have produced more than that and those numbers have probably already been taken, I wouldn't expect your new engine to fall within that range.

If you purchased your new short block from Honda, I'm sure you would get one with the four hole oil jet bolts.

I don't think anyone other than Honda knows if the four hole oil jet bolts make a difference.

Mine made a difference by transferring $280 from me to Honda.

Major replacement parts (short blocks, heads, body panels and bumpers) will also have "RDOT" stamped on them. They tell us dealerships that the parts are not original and have been replaced.
