I hear a thud when I turn mine off. Sounds kinda cheap, but I'm over it.

When you start the engine, a large hammer swings down and wakes up the hamsters. This is the cause of the "thud".
"get to work you little punks"

When you start your engine it makes the sound of the smartest men in Japan all putting their heads together to create an engine with the highest HP to Liter ratio, and one of the best performing engines in the world. How dare you mention the word "cheap" when reffering to such a fine piece of machinery.

Dude, you have a high-compression, tight tolerance engine. When the starter gear engages, there's going to be a bit more resistance than your everyday Yugo. Unless you have some serious grinding, clanking, and/or nothing at all - you are probably OK.

That "thud" is one of the things I like about the car. To me, it sounds more like a boom. A small controlled expolsion. Very nice!
