Esurance - Buyer Beware!
I'm not the one asking what my policy covers. You are.
Me telling you the contents of my policy if is no use to you. You aren't covered on my policy.PS I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight and more coffee tomorrow morning.
The extended possession of the car by the insurance company is akin to hostage taking. They are using the threat of fraud and extended examination (confiscation) to get you to either admit to doing it at the track (which I do believe didn't happen), or to put screws to you to get you to mitigate any payout.
Lawsuits to them aren't even a nuisance as their lawyers all work for them.
I'm so sorry you've been sent down this path.
If we do have tort reform, it should be simple. Loser pays all attorney fees. It would make things like this less likely.
Good luck to you sir.

This is all about a friend of his. Since we're not corresponding with the principal party there is no doubt we're missing much information.I guess I should drag out my USAA insurance policy. I'd think there'd be an exclusion regarding racing in there somewhere. Not that I'm considering it other than around some orange cones.

Hence the confusion. At least on my part.

Flip side, I do have Esurance and they have been fantastic at managing my claims, quick payout to my financing company, etc. Haven't had a single issue with them as a company.
It's good to keep in mind that both of these are one-off experiences with the company. I'm definitely keeping them.

I'm sure there are as many negative reviews for every insurance company. I personally switched to Esurance after Geico sent me a lovely letter cancelling my S2000's policy for no reason (0 claims, no accidents, no new tickets).

I'm sure there is some exclusion about "racing". This was HPDE, though, where the risks to the property are much lower due to the controlled format. Also given that the failure didn't happen on the track I'd imagine it tough to prove that had anything to do with it on a 14 y/o car.

If they are as good as the insurance commission here in Florida, and he has a legitimate beef, they will get things moving.
I hit a coyote going east towards Roswell NM. After the initial repairs we had a disagreement concerning "prior damage" and repair or replacement of my Amuse exhaust. The insurance company had become unresponsive to phonecalls and email. Within one week of contact I had a check for a new exhaust and a Volk CE28.
