To all our friends out there with the "extra wide" license plates (i.e. most of Europe) how do your front plates attach?
Are there holes in the plate to run bolts through?
Is there a braket that holds the plate in place?
Any good detail photos?
A friend of mine picked me up a license plate in France that matches my current Maryland vanity plate. I'm interested in mounting it on the front where I have none at the moment. There aren't holes in the plate now and I'd prefer not to put any in it if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
On my UK car, there is a black plastic plate holder.
I've blanked out the plate but you can see the holder. The holder has two bolts going into the bumper from the front, plus two from behind. You have to have the bumper off to remove it.
As to mounting the plate, mine uses 2 small bolts. However, you can get little foam pads with adhesive on both sides and use these to stick the plate on. These pads are made for doing this - I used some for attaching plates on my old ITR.
Personally, I'd love to be able to run without a front plate!
Thanks for the info. I guess I might look into ordering a Euro mounting bracket. I'm thinking the Euro plate might attract more attention than no plate at all, tho... Hmmm... Thanks again!
